Solar Print Animation

Here are some animated loops I made as solar prints (cyanotypes) in August and September 2021.

To make these short animations, I coated a piece of paper with the cyanotype/solar print emulsion and then place a small grid of 12 squares on top of it. Then I put bits of plant matter into the squares and a piece of glass on top and expose it to the sun. With cyanotypes, you just put them in water to fix them. I then scan the print and use Photoshop to divide the squares into frames. I then animated them with Adobe After Effects.
